Breakfast Club: 3rd ofJune 2026
The following is a recording of the fifth illustration educators breakfast club event that took place on the 3rd of June 2026. This years theme is ‘Agitation-Oscillation-Embodiment’ and framed our discussion.Rachel Hill, CEO of the Association of Illustration, joined us once again and shared information about the AOI’s graduate support resources which can be found on the AOI’s website (https://theaoi.com/). Rachel also gives us further insight into the AOI’s advocacy work, specifically the recent report ‘Brave New World’ producedin partnership with a number of other cultural advocacy groups.
Breakfast Club: 5th of May 2026
The following is a recording of the fourth illustration educators breakfast club event that took place on the 6th of May 2026. This years theme is ‘Agitation-Oscillation-Embodiment’ and framed our discussion.Dr Rachel Emily Taylor and Dr Luise Vormittag spoke to us about the Illustration Studies Hub. The Illustration Studies Hub (ISH) was founded in 2023 by Rachel Emily Taylor & Luise Vormittag (Camberwell) and Ian Horton & Paul Jackson (LCC) to gather up and celebrate illustration research in all its forms at UAL. ISH hosts regular events, talks, reading groups and meet-ups to share practice, test ideas, socialise, form relationships and develop new projects.
Breakfast Club: 1st April 2026
This is a recording of the third illustration educators breakfast club event that took place on the 1st of April 2026. This years theme is ‘Agitation-Oscillation-Embodiment’ and framed our discussion.We were joined by Rachel Hill, CEO of the Association of Illustrators. Rachel took time to talk to us about her work on the ‘Brave New World’ report produced by a coalition of creator-led advocacy groups, including The Association of Illustrators (AOI), The Society of Authors (SoA), the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM), Equity, and the Association of Photographers (AOP). Rachel walked us through the process of developing and authoring the report, outlining its key findings and it’s proposed recommendations.
Vectors of Hope: Method Illustration
As part of the Vectors of Hope gathering event in November 2025 Jen Franklin and Rachel Emily Taylor presented their approach to embodied illustration research called Method Illustration. They have kindly agreed to share the briefing document.

This study explores illustration pedagogy through illustration practice, providing the unique opportunity to consider the entanglement of three academic identities: teacher, illustrator and researcher. The aims of this research were to surface findings that can begin to restructure a sense of self within Higher Education, to better understand student experience of illustration pedagogy and to uncover a more nuanced focus for future research.
